Mac Demarco - Salad Days

Mac Demarco's Salad Days floated into my ears like a lazy river. Within minimal effort, slack is back with Mac.
Demarco comes from a musical background in Canada. At the casual age of 23 going on 20, he has delivered an album that is wonky and downright wonderful.
Salad Days has a loose narrative of an offbeat big brother who is home for 'break' from an out of state college, doling out advise and weed - at least that's my glamorous take on it. Mac's lyrics are full of honest and simple advise; much like his melodies and ultimately his instrumental choices. The tracks feel like they are suspended in multicolored Jell-O and could melt in any second. Not one particular gelatinous track stands out more than the other and it's up to you to carve out what you decide to consume - the slice with the pineapple fruit or the apple chunk?
Without taking anything too seriously, Salad Days says "Hey man, go easy with (insert issue here)". If you take the time to look into Ol' Mac you'll find a gap-toothed-lip-stick-wearing, 90's fashion infused, VHS obsessed, funny man.
Don't let the goofiness fool you, Mac's music has heart; pulsing at a humble and steady beat.
Dig in and float on gang.
